STATUS OF D. G. C. D. UNIT
Since inception on 14.11.1962, so long
DGCD Unit was a regular part of the Ministry of Home
Affairs. Recently by the Ministerial Order No. I-45011/43/2002-AD(CD)
dt. 10.01.03, DGCD Unit has been declared as an attached
Office under D.M. Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
ORGANISATION
Director General Civil Defence is a
senior Indian Police Service Officer of the rank of
DGP/ Addl. DGP. Apart from: DGCD, there are 9 other
authorised gazetted posts- one Fire Adviser, one Deputy
Fire Adviser, one Dy. Director General (Home Guards),
three assistant Director General (ADGs), one Senior
Staff Officer (P & C) (all Grade-A) and two Junior
Staff Officers (Grade-B). In addition, there is a post
of Librarian. All these posts are included in to General
Central Service Cadre, as the posts are ex-cadre in
nature. The stenographical and clerical posts are manned
by the CSSS and CSS/CSCS cadre personnel, whose administration
is controlled by the concerned administrative controlling
section of the Ministry.
There are at present four Section/Cells and a Desk in
DGCD Unit, namely CD Section, HG Section Communication
Section Fire Cell and P&C Desk.
