- Medals:-
Two types of
Gallantry Medals and two types of Service Medals
have been instituted in October, 1974 by a presidential
Notification for Home Guards & Civil Defence,
as per following details:-

i) President's HG & CD
Medal for gallantry.
ii) HG & CD Medal for gallantry.
|
|
| |
i) President's HG & CD
Medal for Distinguished Service.
ii) HG & CD Medal for Meritorious Service.
|
During Republic Day, 2003, no President's
Gallantry/ Gallantry Medal was considered for award.
Total 15 Nos. of President's HG & CD Medal for Distinguished
Service and 50 Nos. of HG & CD Medal for Meritorious
Service were awarded on the occasion.
It may be mentioned that a lumpsum
monetary grant of Rs. 3000/- is attached with President's
HG & CD Medal for gallantry and Rs. 1500/- for HG
& CD medal for gallantry. No monetary benefit is
attached with Service Medals of any type.

in vogue has been clarified in Chapter XII of Compendium
of Instructions:- Home guard (1993 Edn.), p. 72-77 and
also in Chapter VII of Compendium of Instructions:-
Civil Defence (1993 Edn.), p. 40-45.
